DETAILS

Meet your private guide and driver at your hotel and start the journey that will give you the unique chance to discover two typical enchanting Umbrian towns, representing at its best this wonderful region: Spello and Spoleto.
The first stop is Spoleto: the town, situated in a strategic position overlooking the ancient “Via Flaminia”, due to the splendor of its Romanesque churches and the Umbrian-Roman remains, attracts every year thousands of visitors. Here you will do a pleasant private walking tour and visit the exterior of the Roman Theater where the Spoleto festival takes place during the months of June and July, to move then to the Piazza del Mercato and to the stunning Cathedral, a masterpiece of the Romanesque art located in a marvelous square. The tour will proceed then with the Fontana del Mascherone, one of the most characteristic of the town and with the Tower Bridge, a 14th-century powerful structure used both as aqueduct and walkway and will finish at the Albornoz Fortress (exterior), an imposing military fortress and papal residence located on the highest part of the city, where to enjoy the wonderful view over the whole valley.
Left Spoleto, on the way to Spello, your private driver will be glad to stop at an ancient olive oil mill, where you can have the opportunity to learn the whole production cycle and have a delicious Umbrian light lunch, tasting the oil produced there (named the green gold of Umbria!), accompanied by typical Umbrian products: enjoy the beauty of simplicity, discovering flavors and forgotten traditions!
Once in Spello, you will be able to discover one of the most beautiful villages of Italy, dating back to the Roman period, of which you can still admire the ruins of the theater and the amphitheater and the splendid town gates: Porta Consolare, Porta Urbica and Porta Venere. You can explore the main churches Santa Maria Maggiore and enjoy your time exploring also the romantic narrow streets and the many shops and ateliers showing renowned contemporary masters’ works of art!
