For centuries the life of this small island revolves around the furnaces where glass objects are sold all over the world. In 1295 it was decreed that the glassworks in Venice (already active before one thousand), were transferred to Murano for safety reasons, as the ovens of the laboratories were often responsible for disastrous fires in Venetian houses, built mainly in wood.
From this moment on the island of Murano became known worldwide for the processing of glass and became a holiday destination for artists and for many aristocratic patrician families, who built villas, palaces, churches and monasteries here. Murano has the shape of a small Venice: it is made up of 9 small islands joined by bridges with the Grand Canal in the middle. Then, you can also visit the beautiful church of San Donato reachable by boat.
At the end of the boat tour return to Venice city center and private transfer by motor-launch to Venice port (at approx. 4.30 pm)
